Consulting & Training

GUNDERSEN & PRICE offers consulting and training services for medical practices, clinics, and aesthetic studios that wish to establish or improve their own in-house photographic capabilities. We bring the same expertise that underlies our own studio work directly to your practice to help achieve your goals.

Our Consulting & Training Services

Studio Design & Layout
Whether you are building out a dedicated photography room or adapting an existing exam room, the physical environment has a direct impact on the consistency and quality of your images. We assess your available space and provide practical recommendations for layout, wall treatment, background placement, and patient positioning to ensure repeatable, standardized results.

Equipment Selection & Purchasing Guidance
The market for photographic equipment is vast and the specifications that matter for clinical photography are particular. We provide objective, vendor-neutral guidance on camera systems, lenses, tethering solutions, and storage.  With a focus on your specialty, your volume, and your budget. We do not sell equipment. Our recommendations are made solely in the interest of your practice.

Lighting Setup
Lighting is the single most critical variable in clinical photography and the most commonly overlooked. Inconsistent lighting is the reason before and after images so often fail to hold up as a credible comparison. We design and install a lighting configuration appropriate to your space and the treatments you document, and we verify the setup against established clinical standards before sign-off.

Protocol Development
Consistency across sessions depends on clearly defined protocols. We develop standardized photographic protocols tailored to your specialty, including required views and angles, patient positioning guides, distance and framing standards, image naming conventions, and file organization and archiving procedures. Protocols are documented for staff reference and can be adapted as your practice grows.

Staff Photography Training
Equipment and protocols are only as effective as the person using them. We provide hands-on training for your clinical and administrative staff, covering fundamental photographic technique, patient communication and comfort, correct use of your specific equipment and lighting, and adherence to the protocols developed for your practice. Training is conducted on-site using your actual space and equipment.

On-Site Visits
All consulting and training services are conducted at your practice. We work around your schedule to minimize disruption to your patient flow. Follow-up visits are available to assess progress, retrain new staff, or update protocols as your practice evolves.
clinical photography protocol: a standardized set of procedures governing the conditions under which medical photographs are taken, including patient positioning, framing, lighting, and image handling, designed to ensure that images are accurate, reproducible, and comparable across sessions and over time. Internal working definition developed for company use. FAQ's

Who is this service for?
Any medical practice, clinic, or aesthetic studio that takes photographs of patients or intends to. This includes plastic and reconstructive surgeons, dermatologists, aestheticians, nurse practitioners, medical spas, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and hospital imaging departments.

Do you need to visit us before providing recommendations?
For studio design, lighting setup, and staff training, yes an on-site visit is necessary to assess your space and workflow accurately. For equipment guidance and protocol development, an initial conversation is sufficient to begin, with an on-site visit to finalize and implement.

How long does a typical engagement take?
This depends on the scope of work. A single on-site visit covering equipment review, lighting assessment, and a staff training session can be completed in a half or full day. More comprehensive engagements involving studio build-out, full protocol development, and multiple training sessions are scoped individually.

We already have a setup in place. Can you assess and improve what we have?
Yes. An audit of your existing equipment, space, and workflow is a straightforward starting point. We will identify what is working, what is not, and provide specific recommendations for improvement without requiring you to replace everything from scratch.

Do you offer ongoing support after the initial engagement?
Yes. Follow-up visits are available for staff refreshers, onboarding of new team members, or protocol updates. Please contact us to discuss a support arrangement appropriate to your needs.

Do you travel outside of New York?
Yes. Please contact us to discuss your location and the scope of your project.
